Specialists in Nutrigenomics, Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods
The Cell-Logic range targets core cellular processes designed to address the primary processes human cells use to maintain normal cellular activity and to defend themselves against the many daily assaults they encounter. Through intricate signalling processes, their key bioactives are capable of influencing a large number of the many genes which govern normal cellular function. This process is at the core of the science of nutrigenomics.
What you won’t find in Cell-Logic products are megadoses of vitamins. Where we include vitamins in formulae such as DefenCell, the amounts more closely match those available in health-promoting diets.
In particular, Science does not support the regular intake of large amounts of so-called ‘antioxidant’ vitamins such as vitamins A, E, C and beta-carotene or other compounds such as N-acetyl cysteine. In fact, there are many studies which demonstrate that more than dietary amounts of such direct-acting ‘antioxidants’ are likely to inhibit the signalling processes essential for normal cellular defence mechanisms.
Around six decades of flawed logic has supported a notion that human cells require large amounts of ‘antioxidants’ to exhibit optimised function. This flawed logic held that ‘Free radicals are bad – Antioxidants are good’. Such an approach was heavily promoted by Nobel Laureate Linus Pauling whose 1970s publications linked vitamin C to the prevention of both the common cold and to cancer. Pauling’s work was preceded in the 1950s by Dr Denham Harman who promoted his free radical theory of aging. Decades later these theories have not been validated and although vitamins at modest intake remain absolutely essential for preventing a range of deficiency states, the megadoses advocated by Pauling and others are not supported by evidence of benefit.
Thousands of well-designed studies testing hundreds of individuals have not been able to show any evidence that antioxidant vitamins prevent disease. Analyses of studies designed to test prevention of chronic diseases using vitamin ‘antioxidants’ have failed to show any protective effect whatsoever in prevention of such major diseases as cancer, heart disease and diabetes.
Cell-Logic focuses on understanding how healthy human cells function and in using the science of nutrigenomics to produce supplements which work with Mother Nature – not against her.
Our supplements are designed to target the cell’s own signalling processes to upregulate genes associated with protection and to downregulate those genes known to be associated with inflammation and disease-causing processes.
